I released a number of smaller features that you might have missed. Here’s a recap of the past few weeks.

Better Personal Recommendations

TMDb has had personal recommendations for a while now but you couldn’t search or filter them. I took the time to rebuild a good chunk of this and now your recommendations behave like any other of your account lists. This is especially handy when you’re looking for something from a certain genre or perhaps sorting the results in a different order.

It’s true, I still haven’t seen Pulp Fiction. 😳

TV Recommendations

The website finally shows recommendations and not just the “similar” items that were shown before. Remember, the more items you rate, the better we can build these lists!

Movie and TV Recommendations API

While I was clearly in the mood for working on recommendations, I finally took the time to release the recommendation methods for movies and TV shows. You can read more about these method in our documentation but the gist of it is, you can finally get the same recommendations we show on the website. This has been a popular request.

Lists

Lists finally got the ability to save a preferred sort order. As you build and curate your lists, this order is maintained regardless of how many items you add and the order in which you add them. You can also finally delete lists. Nice feature, right?

Instagram

People got social links a few months ago but I only added Twitter and Facebook to start with. Since so many people in Hollywood are on Instagram, it seemed like a good external ID to add. There’s already a few hundred added, take a look.

New Forums

Continuing with the site rebrand, our forums got a makeover. I also took the time to massage a lot of the rough areas. Overall it should be a lot nicer to use. Plus it’s got a mobile view and it’s still the primary spot for support.

What’s next?

Localizing people biographies and regional lists are my next tasks. Chat soon!
